The Paint Shop is presenting works by artists Jane Garbert and Anna Herms at booth B09 at POSITIONS.
Both artists develop distinct and formally contrasting visual languages. Garbert takes construction sites and everyday surroundings as points of departure for her work. Her clear, reduced formal vocabulary encounters fragile, often corporeal motifs. Herms draws on the formal language of ancient sculpture, developing from it an archaic, associative visual world shaped by mythology and cultural memory.
What connects the two practices is their attention to what is overlooked, forgotten, or rarely given consideration. Garbert takes construction sites and industrial environments as points of departure for her work; Herms draws on mythology and literary history. In both practices, elements that have been pushed to the margins or fallen out of view are brought back into focus and placed at the centre of the work.

Der Paint Shop präsentiert auf der POSITIONS am Stand B09 Werke der Künstlerinnen Jane Garbert und Anna Herms.
Beide Künstlerinnen entwickeln eigenständige und formal kontrastreiche Bildsprachen. Garbert nimmt Baustellen und alltägliche Umgebungen als Ausgangspunkt für ihre Arbeit. Ihr klares, reduziertes Formenvokabular trifft auf fragile, oft körperbezogene Motive. Herms greift auf die Formensprache der antiken Bildhauerei zurück und entwickelt daraus eine archaische, assoziative Bildwelt, die von Mythologie und kulturellem Gedächtnis geprägt ist.
Was die beiden künstlerischen Ansätze verbindet, ist ihr Augenmerk auf das, was übersehen, vergessen oder selten beachtet wird. Garbert geht in ihren Arbeiten von Baustellen und industriellen Umgebungen aus, während Herms auf Mythologie und Literaturgeschichte zurückgreift. In beiden Fällen werden Elemente, die an den Rand gedrängt oder aus dem Blickfeld geraten waren, wieder in den Fokus gerückt und ins Zentrum der Arbeit gestellt.
